These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Lightbox Film Festival website and your participation in the festival. By accessing the site or submitting a project, you agree to be bound by these Terms and all related policies, including our Privacy Policy and Festival Rules & Regulations.

T&Cs

1. General Information

Lightbox Film Festival (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates an international online awards event celebrating independent filmmaking. All activities, submissions, judging processes and awards are governed by the rules published on our website.

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. Any changes will be posted on this page with the updated date.

2. Eligibility

By submitting a project, you confirm that:

• You are authorised to submit the work

• You own or control all necessary rights

• All information provided is accurate

Submissions from entrants under 18 must be made by a parent or legal guardian.

3. Submissions

All submissions must be made through FilmFreeway during the official submission window.

By submitting a project, you agree to:

• Comply with all Festival Rules & Regulations

• Pay the applicable submission fee

• Accept that submission fees are non-refundable

• Grant us the right to access and review your work for judging

Submitting a film does not guarantee selection, nomination, screening or an award.

We reserve the right to refuse any submission without providing a reason.

4. Judging & Awards

All judging is carried out independently by the official judging panel. Festival organisers and technical staff do notparticipate in award decisions.

Judges may:

• Reassign categories

• Withhold awards if no suitable submissions are received

• Remove a project from competition for rule violations

All judging decisions are final.

The prize fund is dependent on the festival generating a net profit (see Festival Rules). If no profit is made, the prize fund may be reduced or withheld entirely.

5. Promotional Rights

By submitting, you grant Lightbox Film Festival the non-exclusive right to use:

• Posters

• Stills

• Trailers or teasers

• Project titles

• Filmmaker names

• Awards and nominations

For the purpose of promoting the festival, present and future.

You agree that we may display your film or project title publicly as part of official announcements, award listings, and festival marketing material.

6. Screenings

Lightbox Film Festival is an online awards event. Some projects may be considered for private or public digital viewing for judging or promotional purposes.

You confirm you are legally authorised to allow such screenings.

7. Trophies & Certificates

Physical trophies are optional, not included in submission fees, and may be purchased by winners at cost (including production, packaging, and shipping).

Digital laurels and certificates may be issued at the festival’s discretion.

8. Intellectual Property

You retain all rights to your work.

By participating in the festival, you confirm that:

• Your submission does not infringe copyright, trademark or publicity rights

• All music, footage, and materials are licensed or original

• No laws have been violated in the creation of your work

You agree to indemnify Lightbox Film Festival against any claims arising from your submission or participation.

9. Liability

Lightbox Film Festival is not responsible for:

• Technical issues or website outages

• Lost, damaged or corrupted files

• Withdrawal or disqualification of a submission

• Inaccuracies in third-party platforms (e.g., FilmFreeway)

• Delays in communication caused by email providers or technical problems

Participation is at your own risk.

10. Website Use

By using our website, you agree not to:

• Engage in unauthorised access

• Distribute harmful or malicious software

• Copy or distribute website content without permission

• Misrepresent yourself or your affiliation

We reserve the right to restrict or terminate access for any misuse.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom.
Any disputes arising from participation in the festival shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of UK courts.
